ROT ON THE MARCH
Era of the Penultimate Steps
Rot on the March is a Russian project which has achived something that every devoted gothic rocker wishes for, and they did it on their very first studio album: "Era of the Penultimate Steps". This opera prima is about to be released very soon in spite that it was composed more than a year ago. The creative process was interrupted several times at different stages but finally we're going to enjoy this promising debut album as it was conceived: a piece of genuine gothic rock. An ortodoxe soundstream with absolute dominance of guitars, assortment modulation, relentless machine beats, classic genre vocals and occasional and well-managed synths. Eight enjoyable tracks which bring to the listener's mind the spirit of some cult acts from the nineties such as Rosetta Stone, Morbid Poetry or Fields of the Nephilim, among others. Anyway these are only ghosts... Rot on the March's sounds are canonical and distinctive at the same time. Each piece has specific weight enough. A unique music and lyrical message which is covered in barely different manners. In the project's mastermind own words: - "Era of the Penultimate Steps" is gothic rock. Pathetic. Dark. Honest. -
